    What Type Of Drywall Finishes Do You Offer?

    Our Green Bay drywall experts offer a wide variety of drywall finishes on our projects. We feel we have world class drywall contractors and can do just about anything your heart desires.

    But let’s get specific and talk about the most common drywall finishes we complete because that’s what most customers want.

    1. Orange Peel Finish  –  This is probably the most common drywall finish we see in the Green Bay area today. It’s simple and easy to perform and it’s pretty inexpensive. It’s just sprayed on and once it dries it can be primed and painted. After the mud is sprayed on the wall, it dries in a way that literally looks like an orange peel (hence the name).

    2. Knock Down Finish  –  Another common drywall finish that is just slightly different from orange peel. This finish begins roughly the same way with mud being sprayed on the wall. But with Knock Down, it’s is flattened slightly with a drywall knife after the mud spray has dried for a few minutes. The final product can vary with each drywall contractor style, but generally it’s similar.

    3. Mud Swirl  –  We like to think of this as the “rainbow pattern” finish because that’s what it looks like. A bunch of rainbows overlapping each other on the wall. This finish uses a bit more mud and requires a more skilled hand to complete; otherwise it showcases imperfections very easily.

    4. Skip Trowel Finish  –  This can vary in name and style with each drywall tradesman, but the general idea is a thin coat of mud is applied to the wall. Then the trowel is dragged across the wall in arching patterns to give a raised finish with mud rolling off one edge. It creates almost a cloud like look. This isn’t recommended in areas with big furniture or homes with active kids as the finish could get chipped and ruin the look on the wall.

    5. Venetian Finish  –  Venetian plaster can be used to create spectacular finishes on walls. This style dates back to the middles ages with cathedrals, palaces and high quality villas. It’s that look almost like marble on a wall, but not quite. It’s not cheap and requires some of the highest skill in the drywall trade.
